Top 10 Reasons to Go Vegan

If you go to youtube you could find a video with 100 reason why you should go vegan, but ain’t no body got time for that! So I have for you the top 10 reasons why you should go vegan.

1. Life span is increased by 6-10 years

A study led by Loma Lindy University began a study in 1958 which proved that non meat-eaters live significantly longer than meat eaters. The study continues to say that men live over 9 years longer while women live about 6 years longer than meat eaters.

2. Cruelty free for both animals and humans

I recently watched a Movie titled “What the Healthy”. The movie showed us not only how animals are living in horrendous conditions but displayed how awful the living conditions are for those who live near the farms. With over 10 million pigs in North Carolina alone it is no wonder the people are being infected.

3. Weight loss is easy
Unless you’re a junk food vegan or have a pre existing condition you will shed pounds with ease. Some even see weight loss with little to no exercise. Remember being healthy is more then just losing weight.

4. Keeping the weight off becomes doable
I recently hurt my back and have been out of the gym for about a month. I’m dying to get back, but I’ve maintained just fine and I still treat myself to a pastry here and there.

5. Your digestive system improves
At first, this can be a little embarrassing, but once your body adjust to all the fiber you will even out. The first couple weeks of my transformation, I was going so much I thought I was going to die. Cracks me up just thinking about it, but when you eat a lot of veggies and beans YOU GO. Now, I go once a day so just hang in there I promise it gets better.

6. Carbon footprint is reduced
Cows and other livestock produce A LOT of methane. If you didn’t know methane is destroying the ozone layer. I always thinks of that revelation where “…those who destroy the Earth”, are referenced. I don’t what to destroy the earth and I need my car.

7. Your nails and hair will thank you
I noticed my nails changing about a month in; they are so strong and pretty. The only problem now is I cant stop breaking them!

8. The food is fun, new, and delicious
The process can be a lot of fun. Seeing all the beautiful plated food on the internet or reinventing a dish that has been in your family is so rewarding. There is a sense of achievement when you get all the flavors to come together. When you get your first meat-eater taste tester and they love your dish, you’ll see what I mean.

9. There is no healthier lifestyle.
A diet that can fight cancer. Boom. fight me. On a serious note, most if not all of my problems have improved, hair, nails, mood, bloat…. This diet isn’t a on stop shop, and it might not work out for some, but it is a great place to start when there is hope.

10. After the initial investment, the food is affordable
Lets be honest, it can be expensive. Most will have to throw a lot away. If your coming in from a healthier lifestyle, the transition might be easier on your wallet. But most of use, didn’t even know nutritional yeast existed. Luckily: oats, beans, rice, and veggies are cheap. It sounds anti climatic but the food is flavorful. You can built up slowly you dont have to go all out. I spend about 30-40 a week on average for 1.5 people. The .5 is my boyfriend because I share my dishes with him.
